Costume Terminology

 

Girdle - a garment that encircles the lower torso, perhaps extending below the hips, and worn often for support, originally meant a belt at the waist

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Loin Skirt - short skirt (often pleated) a.k.a. loin cloth, breechcloth, kilt

 

 

 

 

 


 

 

 

 

 

 

Fillet - a band or ribbon worn around the head, especially for binding the hair.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Diadema jeweled crown or headband often a symbol of royalty or sovereignty a.k.a. tiara, coronet, crown, circlet
